Nose Surgeries/Rhinoplasty

The reshaping of the nose by surgical and non-surgical procedures is called as Nose correction or Rhinoplasty.

The reshaping of the nose is done by two different ways:

Non-Surgical Procedure

In this process, different types of injective fillers are used to correct the shape of the nose. It is a very speedy procedure which takes anywhere from 10-20 min. depending on the amount of fillers to be injected. There is no swelling after the treatment and no dressing is required post treatment. The results are instant and can be prominently visible to patients within 24 hours of the treatment.

Surgical Procedure

The reshaping of the nose by the surgical process is called as rhinoplasty. It is one of the most common cosmetic procedures performed now-a-days. Nose is a very complex structure built up of small bones & cartilages interconnecting with each other, so utmost care is given while carrying out rhinoplasty.

Often most of the procedures are performed from inside of the nose. However, some procedures are best performed using incision on to the nose from outside. Rhinoplasty is performed either by giving general anesthesia or under local anesthesia. In general, doctors use local anesthesia to numb the entire nose. After the surgery is performed the incision if made are sutured and the nose is packed with a dressing splits.

There are various reasons why rhinoplasty is carried out, but main reasons are :

1) When facing problem in breathing

2) For cosmetic reasons.

Why Rhinoplasty?

1. Reshaping the nose

2. Recontouring of the nasal bone.

3. Rebuilding of the nasal bone.

4. Reshaping of the cartilaginous part of the nose.

5. Shortening of the seplin (the wall between nostrils).

6. Placement of grafts in the nose.

Patients generally able to return to their normal routine within 1-2 weeks of surgery. No hospitalization is required in rhinoplasty and hence patient can go back to his house on the same day of surgery. First, follow up post surgery is carried out after 24 hours. Second, follow up is carried out within a week after the procedure. Recovery period also depends on a person's ability to heal.

Rhinoplasty generally costs anywhere from 40,000 INR to 80,000 INR depending on the procedure and kind of surgery opted by the patients. Rhinoplasty is better as results are more prominent and long lasting!!
