Tummy Tuck

Complete abdominoplasty: In this procedure, an incision is made across mid section from hip to hip, and a second incision is made to separate naval from rest of the skin. Once the skin is separated and peeled back, extra fat is removed and the muscles are tightened. In addition, the surgeon might do liposuction of specific areas of the body along with tummy tuck surgery for better results.

TYPES OF TUMMY TUCK

1. Partial abdominoplasty

This process is same as complete abdominoplasty but adds some more areas of hips/thighs to the surgery.

2. Extra abdominoplasty

In this small incision is used, which aims at limited fix and manipulation of fat and muscles in mid section and under the flaps.

3. Circumferential abdominoplasty

It is also called as body lift, this is a complete abdominoplasty with additional butt lift in-coperated. This will leave a circular scar post surgery and generally carried out on people who have undergone excessive weight loss.

High lateral tension tummy tuck and FAB Technique

This is a new procedure which approaches old vertical tummy tuck surgery with a new horizontal method and by the small incision that doesn't surround the belly button.

A hospitalization of 1 day is required post surgery to monitor the recovery of a patient.

POST-TUMMY TUCK

Generally patient can do their work within a week of the surgery but sometimes it might take upto a month for complete recovery depending on the type of tummy tuck patient has undergone. Post surgery patient will be provided with a compression garment which they need to wear for some time.

Risk

A tummy tuck is considered relatively safe than other cosmetic surgeries, but it also has minor risks like the blood clot, infection, swelling etc., all these can be avoided if surgery is carried out by the hands of a good surgeon and at a facilitated hospital.
